Simulations for 36 Atlantic salmon rivers

Water temperature and discharge simulations (CEQUEAU) are available for 36 Atlantic salmon rivers via the RivTemp database.

CEQUEAU model was used to simulate river discharge (Q) and water temperature (WT) for 36 unregulated Atlantic Salmon rivers located in Québec, Atlantic Canada provinces and Maine. The daily simulations extend from January 1, 1979 to December 31, 2020.

CEQUEAU Model Workflow:
– CEQUEAU is a semi-distributed conceptual model representing watersheds as “carreaux entiers” (CE) and “carreaux partiels” (CP).
– Meteorological data are computed at CE level, while simulations (Q and WT) are conducted at CP level. – Each CE can contain up to four CPs.

Simulations were done by Ilias Hani at INRS-ETE, contact Information: ilias.hani@inrs.ca

The simulated data are available through RivTemp database (Database | RivTemp) .

Rivtemp (database) Tables :

  • simulations_debitq : contains discharge simulated data at each CP sites for each of the 36 watershed rivers.
  • simulations_teau : contains water temperature (mean) simulated data at each CP sites for each of the 36 watershed rivers..
  • simulations_stations_info : contains information about CP sites for each of the 36 watershed rivers. CP notified by “WTcalib” or “Qcalib” indicate that the CP sites is a calibration site with water temperature (WT) or discharge (Q) observed data. The observed WT data are provided by RivTemp network and the observed discharge data were obtained from Environment and climate change Canada (ECCC) data explorer and USGS for Maine https://waterdata.usgs.gov .

Rivtemp (database) views :

  • simulations_teau_db : combines CP sites information (table: simulations_stations_info) and water temperature (maximum) simulated data (table: simulations_teau) at each CP sites for each of the 36 watershed rivers..
  • simulations_debitq_db : combines CP sites information (table: simulations_stations_info) and discharge simulated data (table: simulations_debitq) for each CP sites for each of the 36 watershed rivers.
